United States first MES training facility
In collaboration with Viking Life-Saving Equipment ASK Safety Inc. has launched United States first Marine Evacuation System (MES) training facility. The facility features not only one, but two different MES-models supplied by Viking, enabling us to provide practical deployment training to a significantly larger group of crew members.
Viking is a world-leading supplier of Marine evacuation systems, and the VIKING Evacuation Dual Chute VEDC and VIKING Evacuation Dual Slide VEDS are efficient and intuitive MES-systems allowing for rapid and safe mass evacuation of passengers and crew. By integrating these state-of-the-art systems into our training environment, we ensure that participants gain practical skills directly aligned with real onboard procedures.
With our brand-new stations, we can provide specialized, practical training in how to operate, deploy and assist passengers in using the evacuation system. This training is usually only reserved for the crew members present during onboard recertification, but now we can offer this vital safety training to the entire crew. This means the crew gets to practice real evacuation routines, ensuring deeper confidence and competence in an emergency situation.
We offer courses both for the general crew and for designated MES crew members. The participants are given the necessary theoretical teaching in the classroom before the practical part is conducted in our authentic MES stations.
We’re excited to elevate MES training standards across the U.S. cruise industry, and we thank Viking for the collaboration so far.
