Combined course – Personal Survival Techniques Revalidation and MES VEDC           

Personal Survival Techniques (PST):

The course is split into both theory and practical’s, including entering and operating a life raft. Use of life jackets and immersion suits.
Included in the exercises are actions to be taken by persons for self-protection in emergency situations, survival at sea and deployment of safety equipment.

This course forms part of the mandatory Basic Safety Training for all seafaring personnel.

MES VEDC:

The course gives the participants familiarization in how the Viking MES chute operate and how to safely use the chute for safe evacuation of the ship. Every participant will participate in practical exercises, safely entering the chute, descending and safely entering the landing platform and life-raft.

6 hours and 30 minutes   

Course Prerequisites

Delegates must be over 18 years old. They must produce a valid Doctors note to confirm they are in good health to participate in the course. Alternatively, the participant must provide either a valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate or documentation from their employer confirming insurance coverage for the course.

What to bring

Document to identify the Delegate.

For the practical exercises all jewellery, high heels and piercing must be removed. It can be advised to bring swim gear and towel and soft shoes to wear at the pool. Protective clothing will be supplied by ASK.
